52/1 Mathematical expressions of temperature disturbances through two heat exchangers in series

Summary

Heat exchangers do not always operate at the specified design conditions in real industrial practice. The variation in process conditions causes changes in the outlet temperatures of a two stream exchanger. There is a need to understand how changes will affect the deviation of the outlet stream temperatures from the designed values. Therefore, new mathematical expressions have been developed to accommodate the effect of temperature disturbances through heat exchangers connected in serial mode in both counter- and co- current arrangements. The Generalized Response Equations (GREs) which accommodate all possible individual and combinatorial disturbance effects have been used to formulate these expressions for two different configuration.
